New Thuglit!

I’ve got a story in the latest issue of Thuglit!

“How to Make the Perfect New York Bagel” is a piece I’m incredibly proud of and, obviously, you should go read it, right now. In case I’m not enough of a draw, there are seven (7!) other stories inside. They are all fantastic.

Available digitally, and in print, so really, you have no excuse. Get some.

9/9: KWIK KRIMES signing

This Monday, September 9, I’ll be signing Kwik Krimes at The Mysterious Bookshop, along with a number of the anthology’s contributors.

This is the first time that I’ll be signing books for actual people, so I’m super excited but also a little nervous and wondering if I should change my signature for signing books so no one can forge checks in my name. Is this the kind I’m supposed to think about? I don’t even know.

Also appearing at the event are:

Otto Penzler, Erik Arneson, Albert Ashforth, N.J. Ayers, Peter Blauner, William Chambers, Reed Farrel Coleman, Bruce DeSilva, Gerald Elias, James Grady, Lyndsay Faye, Jim Fusilli, Chris Grabenstein, and Parnell Hall.

So it’s a stacked lineup. And it’s going to be fun. And there will be booze, in case you needed that added incentive.

Festivities kick off at 6 p.m. The bookshop is located at 58 Warren Street in Manhattan. Be there!

KWIK KRIMES on sale today

kwikkrimesKwik Krimes, an anthology of flash fiction edited by Otto Penzler, is on sale today.

There are some really great authors in this book, like Ken Bruen, Christa Faust, David Corbett, Gar Anthony Haywood, and James Grady.

And somehow also me.

You should buy a million copies and then read my story “The Gun With Two Triggers.”

It’s available from bookstores (like The Mysterious Bookshop) and websites (like Amazon).

Mark you calendar for Noir at the Bar!

182868_10151878810257787_1867202372_nMark your calendar: The next NYC Noir at the Bar is May 26 at Shade on Sullivan Street.

And I’ll be there, readin’ stuff. Out loud.

Which, ok, fine, I know that isn’t too big a draw. But look at the rest of the roster: Dennis Tafoya, Dana C. Kabel, Reed Farrel Coleman, Jedidiah Ayres, Keith Gilman, Justin Porter, Scott Adlerberg, Josh Bazell, Keiran Shea, Jim Baker, and Todd Robinson.

Right? You know you want in. It’s going to be fun. I’ll be drinking heavily and may even embarrass myself. Why would you want to miss that?

New short story!

thuglit coverI’ve got a new short story in the latest issue of Thuglit.

It’s called “Happy Ending” and it’s about Asian massage parlors. It’s a little noir and a little naughty. Also, this issue is chock-full of awesome stories by some really talented writers. You should check it out.

While you’re at it, pick up The Hard Bounce by Todd Robinson. He’s the dude who runs Thuglit, and it’s a great book. I explain why on this episode of the LitReactor podcast!

There should be a print edition of Thuglit coming down the pike soon, but you can get the digital edition for 99 cents right now.

That’s cheap. You have no excuse. Buy it.

UPDATE: Now available in print!

New short story in Crime Factory

The new issue of Crime Factory is out—and it includes my new short story “The Best Job in the World”!

This was inspired by a posting I read on Craigslist years ago, from a guy claiming to be a stripper inspector. It was almost the opening of the novel I’m writing now, and while fun, it didn’t fit the rest of the story. I was excited to be able to salvage it.

The issue is available in print, Kindle format, and also for free, if you’re into free stuff. Check out my story but then stay for the rest. There are some very groovy stories, interviews and articles from some very talented folks. Company I’m honored to included with.

Get some.
